Sujai suspended a bar magnet and tried to check if thin iron clips would hang from it. He kept hanging them one after another, till no more pins would hang. He tried it at 5 places as shown in the figure.
Sujai made the following conclusions from the experiment.
1. The magnetic attraction is powerful at the poles and weaker as we go towards the centre. 2. A bar magnet when freely suspended, always points towards the NS direction. 3. Between P and Q and between S and T, the magnet will not attract any iron clips. 4. All the pins shown in the figure behave like magnets.
